Succession Planning

I'd like to learn if anyone in the AoH community has used the "Art of Hosting" model for improving the succession planning process in the organization. I am writing a paper on this topic and would like to integrate any AoH best practices.

A new way to augment the collective human potential needed to survive our super-threats

I've just received a skype message from my friend Sheri Herndon about a massively multiplayer forecasting game developed by the Institute for the Future, which I found worth to pass on to you:

What if we got all the Evolutionary Nexus and AoH people to be playing this "game".... what kind of future might we then co-imagine?

“People power will become an explosive force in history”

The UK is buzzing with social enterprising and social innovation. It is a country that’s definitely happening. The good news comes just in time, when the world needs working prototypes of better ways to organize commerce, governance, and civil society action. The global society needs successful models of working and learning together at increasing scale, to meet its multiplying crises, more than ever. The living laboratories where those models are experimented with, are rapidly multiplying all over the world, and in some countries more so than in others.  read more »

Making sense of what’s happening in the world, besides the crises

I don’t have an accurate map of all the unconferences, barcamps, world cafés, “open space” sessions and appreciative inquiries that occur in many countries, with increasing frequency. In a sense, it would never be accurate because by the time a new video gets posted about an event occurring, two other went unnoticed by those who were not there. Thus, memes and practices worth to replicate can’t spread as rapidly as it would be useful and necessary to scale up innovation. Noticing it contributed to the following dual motivation of this writing.  read more »

The original slide presentation can be downloaded from Jump Time Players, where "Society 2.0" is blogged about.

Society 2.0

2gather08 was a remarkable, high-energy unconference in London, July 2-3, 2008, "a festival of ideas, popular technologies and progress."

Inspired by meetings I had the week before at the Shambhala Insitute of Authentic Leadership in Nova Scotia, about the Collective Intelligence Convergence website in Montreal, and the "Café U" action research in Boston, I decided to sum up my current thinking on the issues that I started exploring in Spiraling up.

Intergenerational at Shambhala

Intergenerational at Shambhala: story and what is next?

At the Shambhala Summer Institute, June ’08, people were invited to join a conversation around the next steps for the intergenerational work in Shambhala. It started with people trying to put the story together…

Meg Wheatley remembered that at the first Institute people were wondering: Where is the youth? At the last dinner, the kitchen and serving staff said they had enjoyed the conversations. Then they noticed: they were young!

Different pieces made something happen: the work of Berkana, the Pioneers of Change, David Isaac and Juanita Brown wanting to open space for more young people, Toke Møller hosting a module together with Marianne Knuth…

Finn Voldtofte, our friend showing a way

Tagged with:

Our intention is to honor our friend, the late Finn Voldtofte, his work and spirit, by creating more than a beautiful memorial site. We want to grow a space where people can interact with and learn from his work, continue and weave it into their own.

May we help Finn's beloved "magic in the middle" live on in the heart of all in the communities of practitioners that he belonged to, especially World Café, collective intelligence and wisdom, and Art of Hosting.
