Eldering - Eldership
Submitted by Bob Stilger on November 1, 2007 - 15:59.
A head of gray hairs
Doesn't mean one's an elder.
Advanced in years,
One's called an old fool.
But one in whom there is
Truth, restraint,
Rectitude, gentleness,
Self-control--
He's called an elder,
His impurities disgorged,
Enlightened.

From leadership to guardianship
thanks for your question.
Regarding further description of companoning, you might check-out the following video we made in Greece with Simone:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXD29Ci6Juw. More info about the meeting to come, if interested.
Regarding eldership we brainstormed some thoughts and can offer a video harvest once its ready:
Eldership is a (our) key to move from leadership to guardianship. The beauty of eldership and elders is to go beyond ego, know when there is the right moment to let go and act from stillness/ presence. It's about feeling the right time for your "call".
"Eldership is about sprinkling water on the spider’s web and make it visible" (Maria Scordialou)
“If you can do parentship from eldership, then your kids are really lucky” (Ria Baeck)
What would eldership mean in the financial crisis the world is facing ? How to bring eldership into our processes, institutions, etc. ?
Happy to explore the "...ships" even further.
Regards,
Mark

Hi Mark,
I found these ideas really interesting... so often analysing or trying to solve can lead to a bigger mess! But could you give a bit more explanation about what you mean by 'eldership'? I would really like to know how you defined it while you were there in Greece!
Thank you!
Andre
Eldership, not about age - by Mark Siebert
Dear,
I just came back from a Pioneers (of Change) meeting in Greece with a bunch of wonderful people exploring the topic of "intergenerational dialogue". What we, from my point of view, discovered is first that it's not about age, it's about "eldership" at every level and age.
Second it was about "compagnionship", which might be a form or attitude of being "elder". It's about staying with each other instead of analyzing or solving, about walking alongside and staying together in silence to learn rather to teach.
Where are further spaces to experience this ?
Regards,
Mark
