Video Documentation of The Moving Edge Retreat

Lene Bredahl and I, who are very excited participants of the moving the edge retreat next week, are starting the webportal One Open Window in the end of May. It is a “human resource on the cutting edge” project dealing with subjects like: 

intuition, flow, unconscious intelligence, collective intelligence, holism, vision, the creative process, spiritual leadership, chaos, arts in business, diversity….

     In streamings and through the network forum of the portal consultants, authors, artists and ceo´s speak about their thoughts, concepts, books...It is starting up as a danish .dk project, but later it is coming on as an international .com project. 

      Our participation in the moving edge retreat is most of all about inspiration, but we also see a great opportunity in bringing a camera and put up a little humble tv-studio in a small room or a corner. With two purposes:
  1. Documentation of the retreat for the benefit of the moving edge project.
  2. Collecting exiting material for the portal.

      I´m not sure what is the most elegant way to do it. What I have in mind is something like this: In the flowing investigation of collective intelligence there will be some fix-points. Statements will stand out. Conclusions will come forward.

     Whenever one of you is cooking with something I will ask you to come forward with a statement – from 8 seconds to 5 minutes I imagine – in front of the camera. One at a time. And not in the middle of a discussion of course.

      Or: If one of you feels like speaking to the camera, you just say – “Thomas, push the record button, I have an inspiration.”

     Maybe it will work, maybe it wont, but I plan to discretely establish the possibility. It is not supposed to take any energy away from the collective process at all. It is, of course, totally up to each one of you if you feel like joining. And by the way I´m open to suggestions to how a video documentation of our time together can be utilized in other ways.

audio and video streaming

Yes! I saw beautiful implementations of streaming audio and video in Drupal, the platform we use here. The plug-ins enabling them are already installed here but not yet configured. We'll recruit some talent from the very broad and active  Drupal open sources community but it will not happen in time for MtE. Hopefully, we'll have them shortly after and can start playing with those essential tools for accelarating the evolution of CI in and across our communities,

Dear Thomas,

I am thrilled  by your video documentation project for many reasons, one of which is that it may bring a big chunk of the answer to my burning question.

Yes! That has been my experience, too, for a year or so.

Evolutionary consciousness is breaking through and emerging simultaneously in a growing number of communities. Documenting the living laboratories of Emergence is a juicy and historically important task, and Lene and you are the right people, the right time and place.

The possibility that such combination will open to large-scale social innovation and spiritual awakening, has been inspiring my life's work since the early 80's.  One of its current manifestation, in baby-phase, is the site that we are using here. I can hardly wait to meet you and explore how we can support each other's work and maybe develop some form of collaboration between One Open World and Evolutionary Nexus.

One Open Window

      I´m very happy to read the positive responses to the idea of a video documentation of next week. Sheri, you are asking how broad the One Open Window project is. I can tell you – it´s broad. Of course I have to speak in a humble tone here, as one who hasn´t even gone on the air yet. But the vision Lene and I are sharing around this project…is broad.

      First of all we feel this silent storm coming from all directions. It is whispering that spirituality wants to manifest! The signs are that separated entities are coming together. Sometimes it is so subtle you can´t even see it. But then you think 2, 4, 6 years back in time, and then you know it is happening.

     One Open Window is a vision about speeding up that process inside and outside ourselves by combining physical networks with all the possibilities that technology generously offers. So that manifesting spirituality, in a very hardcore reality, can benefit fully from the most powerful principle of the world today: open source – which is all about collective intelligence. People, thoughts, initiatives, networks, weblogs, events, arts, business….crossing each other, merging…growing.

      Please join the party.  It´s broad.    

Documentation with Intention

This is so inspiring.  Having just returned from a Sacred Circle Retreat, and having recorded the entire retreat with an audio recorder, I am sitting in this space of documenting important gatherings.  A friend recently gave me a CD of an audio artifact that had been produced out of a gathering of about 15 people.   It's called Becoming Consciously Vibralingual.  Listening to it, I was so impressed by how the producer put together in a beautiful way an experience for those "outside" the experience.  I wanted to do something similar.  Unfortunately, I didn't set a clear enough intention going in to the retreat and that meant I didn't let people know about my intention so we could create the space.  I am learning from your offering Thomas and the only thing I might say is that creating sufficient space for this "documentation" will be supported exponentially by collectively creating this once everyone is together, face to face.  Your planting the seed now is so fabulous.  I wish I had done this.  I have a beautiful recording of the entire retreat, but didn't get those little gems that were sprinkled throughout the gathering, nor did I get time for those quick questions and short interviews with people. Time felt like a scarce resource (although Tom Atlee's recent posting called  The "I don't have time" factor in collective intelligence, conscious social systems, and co-evolution makes me reconsider this feeling I'm having about time and scarcity - I want to feel that I am empowered with an abundance of time!

There is another piece about how to share from the gathering WHILE it is happening.  That could be blogging, or uploading raw footage in short clips as it's going.  This is distinguishing between the live component as compared to the produced piece after the fact.

I LOVE the concept of the One Open Window portal and I really appreciate your vision.  It's very inspiring.  I do hope we will create mechanisms like blogs do where you can see who is connected in this meme - the "evolutionary media blogroll" -- How are we all connected?  Who is doing what?  It seems that one of the tasks of the portal is to do just this.  I'm interested in how broad you are conceiving the portal.  I see all these kinds of efforts at documenting and sharing the stories of the evolutionary movement are critical in making visible the imaginal cell network...

I can hardly wait to see how the Moving the Edge documentation unfolds.  I feel we are going to learn alot from you all in this process.  Thank you for the transparency so we can learn together.

As someone from "the outside world" who is very interested in this gathering, I look forward to seeing video footage. Here is a video from a recent conference, Recent Changes Camp: Building Communities Worth Having!. This was attended by many participants of this Nexus site and seems like it could be similar to what you are talking about here, Thomas.

I don't know if you were reading our texts on the perspectives we hold for Moving the Edge? One of them is about the relationship with 'the outside world'; as we become very aware of the potential of showing what is happening in and during this kind of events. I was myself, and the others of the convening team, thinking of making explicit time for reflection and harvesting about what was happening. If we can add movie to the blog entries, that would be great!
