Sacred Artifice, and the Spirits of Places
I've just recently been starting to really see deeply into Evolutionary Spirituality, and the Great Story.
I just made a post on the evolutionary spirituality wiki about Sacred Sites on Talk:Evolutionary Sacred Sites.
I said basically two things:
- I think artifice has a big place in Evolutionary Spirituality, and our sense of the Sacred. For example, an Internet Exchange or a power plant can be a sacred space, as can the Chernobyl sarcophagus.
- There is a justification in the evolutionary story for animistic styled worship of spirits. We can interpret the web of relationships and personal feelings and reactions and animals and citizens and denizens of a place as composing, together, the Spirit of that place.
