On August 17, 2007, Carsten Ohm sent out an email:
"Today is the day when Marianne Knuth, the Pioneer of Pioneers of Change is stepping into her new life celebrating her wedding with Paul in Kufunda.

Why don't we all give her the gift of co-creating and showing up for a 10 year Pioneers of Change birthday party/gathering next year or beginning of 2009!

Castle Borl is calling upon us too...."

Immediate response by Maria Scordialos:
"Sarah and I would love to host this at Axladitsa-Avatakia in Greece as well."

"the intergenerational space is very potent and hold much hope for......the generations to come"  - toke møller

"this could be an exciting subject to explore."  - monica nissen

"This sound fantastic ... I am feeling called back to Borl ... with my family." Tim Merry

"it's wonderful ... feeling the vibrance of the network. ... It sounds like a collective "check-on"."  Mark Siebert

"What if we would make it into a meeting of the Pioneers of Change - the younger ones - with the Pioneers of the Sixties - the older ones?" Ria Baeck

"I also could see this as being a rites of passage for even the younger Pioneers who are now themselves entering into another phase of life – and marking this as well as passing the baton to the younger younger generation (next generation) might be important to do.

So a three fold purpose emerging here:
  • Celebrate 10 years
  • Bring intergenerational pioneers together
  • Mark the next generation of pioneers and the shift of the previous generation."
 Maria Scordialos

"This is an excellent idea that I would love to be part of!"  Leslie Williams

"ditto! I am a PoC from the 60s who has been staying current with the edge of social innovation over those years, and would be delighted to keep learning with/from the younger ones..."   George Por

"Oh the pioneers of young and old are gathering.....

what a gift
what a potent mix
what a surprise

Being there in the beginning
living in the middle
may i be there till the end
and the endless new beginnings

oh
the life of pioneers
from all sides
and all times
for all
and life itself

when is this gathering?"   - toke

"There is another network I am a part of, which has its feet in the tech world, and much of its head and heart in social activism. I suggested to them that next year they might hold their yearly retreat "along side" this proposed gathering, allowing a cross pollenization of the two networks. I suspect they could each benefit and learn from each other and maximize the scarce resource of F2F time. Hm, maybe the word is magnify...

The lead organizer said "yes, tell me when and where and we'll see if we can orchestrate it!"  Nancy White

" The ‘protoporos’ – the ‘one’s who take the journey first’ have emerged throughout the ages – what would possibly happen if the generations came together??"  Sarah Whiteley

"What if we formed a team to “co-initiate” (in the of the sense of U model) a presencing process for prototyping of a new kind of inter-generational learning expedition?
I imagine the learning expedition as a deep, collaborative inquiry that combine: a fun-filled, f-t-f gathering in a learning center; an online work/playshop; a shared knowledge ecosystem; and the creativity of the young-in-the-heart of all generations."  George Por

"Who should also be in a co-initiation team?":
New pioneers (max. 30 years old)
Pioneers passing on to the next generation of Pioneers/children (max. 45 years old)
Senior Pioneers (max. 125 years old)" - Carsten

"my Yes comes from wishing to be in the container of learning of how our co-evolution as humans is taking place – how this can be amplified with in an inter-generational incubator.  And also – because I am living and hosting a learning center that is a container of living wholeness – and I want to be part of hearing if such gatherings want to happen on this land." - Maria S.

"I'm so excited to see that the intergenerational energy is gathering!"
"Do you have to be a PoC members to participate?  What if you are just a "child of the 60's"--does that count?"   - Juanita Brown

"I would love to explore this co-initiation.  I will certainly join the E-Nexus conversation to explore this further."  Sarah W.

"Great, lets do it! Lets organise a intergenerational internetwork Pioneers of Change 10 year anniversary! Lets get a hosting team together!
I have a bit of a lull at work at the moment and hereby volunteer!" - Hendrik

"I believe that intergenerational diversity is one kind of diversity almost always available to us and I believe that right-action grounded in many generations of life has the best possible chance for making the changes many of us hope to see if our world.

I’m also aware of how precious time is becoming for each of us.  We are in the moments when we need to be stepping forward with those right-actions in service to a planet where people are whole, healthy, sacred and free.

So, I am completely committed to helping organize any intergenerational events which serve this purpose of learning how to step forward, collectively, with right-actions in service to our world."  Bob Stilger

"It is intended as a space/time continuum, in which pioneers from different generations meet, the  ‘protoporos’ – the ‘one’s who take the journey first,’ as Sarah called them, and engage in action-oriented co-inquiries into issues that matter them the most."  - George Por

Hosting team so far:

George Por - Carsten Ohm - Maria Scordialos - Sarah Whiteley - Hendrik Tiesinga - Ria Baeck - Filiz Telek - Lesley Williams ...

Soul stirring call

I too was just exploring this site and found this thread.  I am reminded of a Global Village Square I attended at the Shambhala Institute in 2006 where the opening ceremony was to  find our place in the circle based on age.  There were about 75 of us and that year our age range ran from 13 to 72.  This circle, for me, set the frame of the importance of every voice from every age, as we moved into very deep conversations where each age brought a unique perspective that contributed to the whole. - Carla

Soul-stirring call

This is a soul-stirring call for me, too - and I would love to contribute what I can. In particular, I would like to bring my camera!

hello

hello! just joined the e-nexus and exploring this space...when I came across this conversation, I wanted to join right in! I am actually quite surprised to find so many friends here cooking something so amazing together! I am a Borler, and I co-hosted open space learning village in 2003 and 2004. Borl does call me back as well...

I cherish the intergenerational learning and playing. so I hear a strong calling here. I would like to be part of the hosting team.

It's good to read the emerging story

Thank you Ria for pulling it together from the flurry of messages that Carsten's email triggered.
