Reading Only
Reading only
“I just want to know what is going on in this community. I want to stay tuned.”
If you just want to read, you don’t need to be logged in. There is a lot of content and conversations on Evolutionary Nexus, and this will grow and expand in the future. So how to find your way around?
One way in is reading the Nexus Blog - underneath Commons. This will give you 'a' sense of what is going on in the overall community.
Blog is short for 'web-log', or web diary. In a blog you always find the latest postings on the top. Here you can find the ideas, insights and announcements that are shared with the whole community.
If you want to read more, there are plenty of conversations going on that you might what to peek into. On the left sidebar, you will see Recent Posts - this shows all recent postings from the whole website. Just click and read.
Conversations - Forum (under Commons) are our conversation places. Clicking here, you will see the titles of the different forums and how many topics and who posted the latest comment. Just read along!
If you want to follow some of the conversations as they develop, you can ‘subscribe’ to a forum by clicking on “subcribe by email" at the bottom of the page. It will give you email alerts when something is posted in this topic. If you know RSS, you can "subscribe by RSS". You can “unsubscribe post” whenever you have want.
Collaboration - Wiki (under Commons) are pages where people work on the content together. Examples are: co-creating the invitation for a next gathering, or co-writing the report of a shared event.
Because everybody can add pages and conversation topics, it is often hard to have a good overview of the content. That's why we ask writers to 'tag' their content. You can find these tags or 'labels' under "Nexus tag cloud" in the left sidebar. Click on it to be taken to a page with all the tags used on this site. If one is of special interest of you, just click on it and it will give you an overview of all content tagged with this tag. As soon as you're ready for your next step in using this site, go to "Reading and first step writing".
