Reading and first step writing

”I’m ready to try posting.”

Writing on Evolutionary Nexus is easy, it doesn't take much effort to learn. You need to be "logged in", so that the system knows who you are. If you have not registered yet, it's time to do so (new account). If you are registered, just log in. Now you are ready to dive in and join in the conversations!

Adding new comments

Probably the first thing you will want to do is write a thought, comment, or view on a certain subject, or ask a question in the Conversations - Forums (under Commons). At the bottom of every page there is an “add new comment” button. Clicking on it will bring you to a page with different boxes to fill in. The first one is asking you the title of your comment. You can choose one of the site-wide categories and you can add tags to your content. This will help you and others to find back your contribution whenever it's relevant. Next box is "body", here goes your actual contribution. Then – important – don’t forget to click on “submit”. You will then see your posting. Congratulations!

If you want to change what you have written, simply click on “edit” at the top of the page and you come back to the posting page. Make the changes you want and “submit” again.

We advice you to make your comment/contribution in Word first, so that you still have it when something goes wrong!! (you can then use the icon 'paste from Word' to keep your formatting.

Announce something to the site-wide community - Post on the “Nexus Blog”

If you run your mouse over "add/write/upload" in the left side bar, a roll-down menu will appear where you can choose "Nexus blog". A new page will open, with the same structure as for Comments. Don’t forget to “submit” at the bottom of the page! Your entry will appear on the homepage of this site.

Announce something to 'your' community - post on Community Blog

If you choose to post something only to 'your' community or communities, you take the same route. Run your mouse over "add/write/upload" in the left side bar, and choose "community blog". Below your message you are asked which communities are your audience(s). Click the ones you want. Your entry will appear in the Community Blog on the homepage of the chosen community.
