Science, Revelation and Evolution?

What role should science and spirituality (intuition, revelation) play in defining and guiding Evolutionary Salons and our other work together?

We're talking here about science and revelation/intuition as sources of knowledge -- the "objective" observations, theorizings, testings, peer reviews, efforts to replicate results, etc., on the one hand -- and the "subjective" realizations, sensings-into, epiphanies, encounters with spirits, channelings, etc., on the other hand.  read more »

Dreams, Visions, Intuitions, Revelations

Several of us have been sharing our dreams and I want to create a space where this way of knowing can gather its potency. Several of us awoke from vivid dreams at nearly the same time on the Saturday we returned from the salon. Some of our dreams and dawn intuitions have felt like they came out of our time together, emerging from our collective field.

I KNOW in my HEART and SOUL that the only way we can go 'FAST' enough to save the world 'IN TIME' before it is 'TOO LATE' is to slow down, drop deep and enter the realms outside of time.

This is a forum which calls forth the dreams, visions, revelations, reveries, intuitions, images and insights which come from the night and the portals of dawn and twilight.....

Story niches in the socio-ecosystem

Core Questions:
  • What is the role of different stories/cultural myths & morals?
  • What stories work for you, how & why?
  • <!--[if !supportLists]--> How does variety and/or unity of story impact us?

Why I posted this topic:
<!--[endif]-->

I’ve got my own spiritual practice that works for me, with its own 'night-language' (myth-language) and story, metaphors which interconnect me and the rest of us with the natural world very directly as brothers and sisters in creation. I don’t feel a need for humans to hold the kind of special role described by the Great Story -- and I get grumpy when I feel like we are ignoring the value of non-human consciousness. I am finding, however, that the evolutionary perspective allows for greater leaps of the imagination about where we can go and what right action is – and think it has great potential.  read more »

Visions of the future

Core Questions:

  • How do we relate to the evolutionary perspective into the future?
  • What is our role in this process?
  • How is evolution proceeding?
  • What differing visions of the future do we hold?

The Transhumanist vision, for example, is potentially my worst nightmare and others' greatest hope. I suspect that is way too simplistic, and I want to explore more fully what those who chose to envision a preferred future and/or dystopia see – and how those visions relate to each other.

Personal approach to evolutionary perspectives

I asked Michael Dowd how many people at this salon he thought had had an epiphany response to the Universe story & he suggested about 25% -- which leaves 75% of us with some other relationship to it. I’m curious to explore all the different ways in which we make use of an evolutionary perspective in our thinking, where we are uncomfortable, where we are passionate, where we go with it.

Core Questions:

  • How do you relate to the universe story or great story?
  • What is the role of an evolutionary perspective in your thinking/life/work?
  • How do these different ways of relating to the evolutionary perspective and/or universe story together enhance our ability to develop increasingly conscious social systems and/or bring us more in right-relationship with the rest of creation?
