Some history

I am a long-time practitioner of the art of participatory leadership, having worked in the same leaderful, learning organization in rural Oregon for 30+ years. Without knowing it, we have been discovering, learning and applying the principles of Art of Hosting and participatory leadership for many years. For the past 15 years we have been organized by self-directed teams that work without managers or bosses and are responsible for their own hiring, budgets, product development, etc. Since the retirement of our CEO 3 years ago, we have been using a leadership team of seven people as a collective executive.

When I discovered Art of Hosting a few years ago, I was delighted to find that there is a community and a body of knowledge that describes the work that we have been doing intuitively and in isolation. Since then, I have taken every opportunity to immerse myself in this community. I have participated and served as an apprentice in AOH events, attended the Shambhala Leadership Institute 3 times, volunteered at Kufunda Village and serve on the Kufunda Eagle Council, participated in the design and as a participant in two Warriors of the Heart, participated as an elder in the Pioneers of Change Multi-generational meeting and called and hosted an AOH for our organization in July 2008.

While I continue to work part of the year in Oregon, I am also involved in volunteer work, hosting, life coaching and organizational/leadership development work elsewhere in the world for a several weeks every year and I continue to look for opportunities to share my gifts of coaching, hosting, witnessing and holding space anywhere that I can be of service of life-affirming work.

Your excitement
I am excited about learning and living life fully with passion and in spite of (as opposed to without) fear. I love to travel and meet people and explore new and different cultures. Currently, I am getting into my body, discovering how to embody learning in more than my head. I am an aikidoka and am learning yoga. Both of these practices are challenging an older body with lots of deeply ingrained habits and patterns. What a delight it is to discover my body and to learn to live life with an open heart.
Burning Questions/Inquiries
How can I be of service to the world? What does it mean to live with an open heart? What can I learn if I listen to nature and discover how to learn from instead of learning about? What is the universe calling me to be and to do? How do I fully step into my elderhood and into becoming a sensei of participatory leadership? As systems crash and chaos spreads in this world, how can I bring a grounded presence and open heart to the quest for new ways of being? How can I transcend my independence and my ego to beter participate in community and in co-creation? What else is possible in intimacy?
